La Dell Fox concert wows Locust club audience

Last Friday at the courthouse La Dell and Fox delivered a refined musical program. Fox impressed as a violinist, with strong encores. Miss La Dell captivated with impersonations and humor, drawing hearty applause. Pianists Miss Crawford and Miss Curran also pleased, Curran earning encores with a mezzo soprano voice.

Death of Annie Laura Schwanbeck at age 8

Annie Laura Schwanbeck died January 14 1908 after a stroke from a horse hoof on August 22 last year. Born February 12 1899 near Wa Keeney she endured hospital treatment in Topeka and later surgery before passing at home. Funeral services led by Rev Bunge were held at the house and in Collyer cemetery.

James M Spena, longtime county president, died near town twelve miles southwest after a period of rheumatic illness. He was a kind husband and father, well liked and respected by neighbors. He leaves a widow, several children, a mother, a sister, and brothers. World extends sympathy to the family as the community learns of the loss.
