The State Charter Board granted a charter to the Nebraska Kansas Southwestern Railway Company with capital stock of 1 500 000 to build a line from Superior Nebraska across west-central Kansas to Dalhart Texas. Incorporators are J C Hooper A W Wilson and C Hi Brassfield Kansans in Stockton Ness City. F T Burnham of Beloit secured the charter promoting the project. William Goble born October 17 1881 in Bulaski Ohio died January 21 1907 at his home in Trego County Kansas aged 75 years 3 months 14 days He moved to Indiana at six then homesteaded the farm where he died He married Susan Whistler in 1856 and eleven children were born with one dying in infancy He served in Company C 334 Indiana Volunteers during the Civil War He was a longtime member of the Methodist church and the G A R Post He lay in state at the G A R hall the funeral was officiated by Rev H H Owen with eight voice choir and burial in Mount Hope cemetery The G A R ritual performed at interment Also notes the sale of eighteen quarters of land owned by the P J Walsh estate sold by Sheriff Ashcroft under district court orders bringing 26285 a bit over 14600 per quarter The land around the four corners of Graham Sheridan Trego and Gove counties mostly bought by John Walsh with one quarter going to Tom Pratt of Sheridan county for 1200 It was rough pasture land Weather section reports maximum and minimum temperatures at Wa Keeney for the week ending February 14 describing a week of bright weather Also mentions Safe-Seed barley price and DL Drees selling south of Hull</S>
