Advertising copy touts drastic end of season discounts on winter merchandise. Lady coats priced from $12.50 to $20, men’s duck waterproofs and suits heavily discounted, children and misses coats 25 percent off, plus kimono and jersey shirt lots at reduced rates. Sale notes one price items and miscellaneous apparel at low, bold price points.
Rural letter carriers will stop collecting loose coins from rural mail boxes starting February 15. Patrons should enclose coins in envelopes or use coin-holding receptacles so carriers can lift them. The Wa Keeney Kansas farmer institute on February 10 drew a small forenoon crowd due to busy corn fields. Vice President Henderson and the secretary attended. OC Cunningham and Miss Brown arrived later. Speakers covered corn raising, alfalfa seed beds, cream care, cooking, and soil moisture with few local absentees. An afternoon session elected officers, discussed fowls and wheat, and featured a fireless cooking demonstration by Miss Brown ending with a crowded Wednesday session.
Government thermometer readings show daily high and low temperatures for the War Keeney area for the week ending Wednesday noon. G Hog stayed out all day without sun shade but wore his overcoat, indicating cool conditions throughout the period.
