Wreck Averted On 103 Near Toulon By Quick Action
A passenger freight collision was narrowly avoided Monday evening when the 40 mile an hour 103 engine halted after the engineer detected an open switch. He applied air brakes reversed the engine and stopped shortly after mining on the switch. Section men claimed the switch was closed earlier and a freight crew passing later said the switch was not used.
