Irrigation by pumping pioneers western Kansas wells

Practical gains from underground waters in western Kansas show upland fields near irrigation potential. Lough and McCue wells near Scott County demonstrate 130 to 180 acre capacity with costs around 3500 dollars and 10 dollars per acre water rights. Artesian flows in Morton County indicate growing interest and expanding irrigation through deeper drilling, cheap fuel engines, and gravity-fed distribution.
