Oil well north of Collyer shows progress amid flooding and new casing
Report from Mr. Polen notes heavy water flow causing past cave-ins but a casing now shut off cave-ins and allows continuing work. Water flow appeared at 20 feet then a larger sheet at 65 feet, exceeding local expectations. Polen has 200 feet of 15 12 inch casing en route. Coal supply limits 24 hour drilling. when carloads arrive operations will run continuously. Polen visited Marion and Chase counties where drilling is active and sees stronger prospects in Trego county. Next week is Clean Up Day at the Fair grounds with S J Straw urging participation. The Tre go county wildcat drill started August 8 near Wakeeney six miles from Collyer attracting about 10 000 spectators and 1500 cars. Residents loaned coal to the rig as people from Wichita Kansas City and Denver watched. The company owns 50 000 acres in Trego county.

Malicious fire destroyed seven of nine wheat stacks on eighty acres owned by M. W. Mason and Elmer Cue four miles southeast of WakKeerey. The arsonist rode between stacks, then torched and left.
