William A Rhoden dies after long life of service in Nebraska and Kansas
William A. Rhoden born November 6, 1851 in Schuyler County Missouri died August 13 1921 at his home four miles east of Wa Keeney Kansas at age nearly seventy. He taught in Iowa and Nebraska and moved to Wa Keeney area in 1910 with his wife Josephine Carper. Survived by widow three sons William LeRoy and Sterling two daughters, several grandchildren, and seven siblings. A Republican era Masonic and Christian church member, his funeral held Sunday with interment at Elmwood Nebraska under Masonic rites. remains shipped from Elmwood. The new city school will start the 1921-22 session on September 12 with the second Monday in September as the first day. Faculty includes Gladys Kohler, Mary Groft, Edna Rogers, Minnie ONeil, Rebecca Cornell, Olive Neff, and D. O. Hemphill as superintendent. Boy Found Safe After All-Night Search Near WaKeeney
In Trego county eight miles southeast of WaKeeney, four year old Edward Blakely wandered from home while his parents were away. After hours of frantic searching by about two hundred residents, the boy was found alive near the Tawney farm as dawn broke. He said he went out to fetch cows for his father and slept by the road during the night but was unharmed. The Blakelys and neighbors expressed deep gratitude for the community’s help and shared thanks through The World.
