The Norcross Stock Company returns for a five performance run at the Garden Theatre on May 5 6 and 7 with the farce and drama The Way Down East presented by Card F Norcross and company. Billie Valmount James Marsh and Dard F Norcross lead the cast in a story of Ruth a girl down on her luck who finds a home then faces disruption from a villain Mr Bradley. Seats go on sale Monday with prices 30 and 75 cents tax included.
Henry Peter Herman Brockman born May 25 1863 in Germany emigrated to Iowa 1884 moved to Nebraska 1888 married Magdalene Enselman in 1890 with eleven children one predeceased him. Died last Saturday in Hays at 57 years 10 months 25 days. Andrew J Wallis born 1834 in Douglas MA died April 21 1921 at 85 years 11 months 20 days. Burial in Wak Keeney after funeral at S J Strew's funeral home conducted by Rev Grant Mann. Also notes Lutheran Church services in German Sunday 10:00 am and Sunday School 11:00 am.
WaKeeney hosted the Golden Belt Association of Odd Fellows and Rebekahs with a train arrival from the east at 2 09 and a 3 00 pm program in the courthouse. Speaker Rev Woodward discussed Fraternalism, followed by performances, a banquet for 400 served in 15 minutes, and a collection for the Manhattan Odd Fellows Home totaling about 100 dollars.
Miss Bessie Simpson daughter of Mr and Mrs W J Simpson left WaKeeney Kansas Sunday morning for a wedding trip that ended in marriage to Mr Walter F Piske at Crown Point Indiana Monday afternoon. They were united by Rev Hale pastor of the Presbyterian church after meeting in Chicago. The couple will reside on Mr Piske’s farm near Crown Point and begin housekeeping.
M E Church notes Sunday program with Ada Morgan Field Secretary of the W F Missionary Society speaking at 11 am. Richard Low’s lecture praised as instructive and humorous with new mission facts. Ladies Aid served a well attended dinner. Next Sunday is mission day with offerings at Sunday School.
Locust Club hosted its annual Guest Day at Mrs. G. G. Jones home with members inviting guests. A France study program and fine music by a ladies quartet accompanied a three course dinner planned by Mesdames Wollner Hixson and Courtney.
