An old advertisement touts Dean's Regulats at 25 cents per box as a cure for a lazy liver linked to dyspepsia and constipation. It claims the tonic strengthens the system, improves appetite and digestion, aids sleep, and enhances life, recommending Burdock and Blood Bitters and noting Pickled pork at Baker's.
A county candidate must secure 3 to 10 percent of the total party vote across at least one fourth of the county’s precincts. In Trego nine precincts, a Republican would need 17 to 54 names on the petition, depending on where gathered. The memo explains how a three township petition could meet the requirement and notes the petition size is small and unobstructive.
Beloit Kansas April 11 1908 Beloit Daily Times prints letter from Mr Reeder denying opposition to his Congress candidacy and clarifying politics. Washington April 4 1908 letter repeats, cites Roosevelt Taft Cannon statehood bill stance, and outlines voting history. Also notices on WaKeeney town surveying aims and costs and an ad for Kodol digestion aid.
Hammett and Bacon advertise cash sales with a 5 percent discount on all goods. Edison phonographs and records are excluded from the discount and must be sold at regular price and terms. They promise to sell as cheap or cheaper than during credit sales and emphasize their stock list remains available.
Government thermometer at Wakeeney shows maximums and minimums for the week ending Wednesday noon. Days listed include Thursday 57 and 42, Friday 81 and 55, Saturday 83 and 41, Sunday 8 and 4, Monday 76 and 50, Tuesday 58 and 0, Wednesday 80 and 45. Four-tenths of an inch of rain fell during the week.
