Central Washington Counties urged to unite for Columbia River development
The article argues that Central Washington counties along the Columbia should overcome rivalries and act in harmony to boost local interests. It highlights the Columbia navigation as ashared goal and suggests joint state and national efforts to turn the river into a major commerce highway, not allowing other cities to dominate regional policy.
Saturday Evening Post Comments on Gunn Law
The piece notes Senator Gunn's exemption of moneys and credits from taxation prompts broad debate. The Saturday Evening Post editorially approves, arguing the policy attracts capital and reduces taxes overall as borrowers bear the burden while lenders dodge assessments. It predicts cheaper money, higher bond prices, and a net state gain despite small tax losses.
