Seattle firm to complete Columbia River bridge by April
John Gerrick of Gerrick and Gerrick says steelwork contract secured for a cantilever bridge across the Columbia River. About 1100 tons of steel to arrive, with a cableway and four donkey engines to aid construction. Gerrick plans to supervise from Wenatchee and Seattle, bringing his family to stay for the winter.

Italians Arrested Over Work Refusal and Fees Demand
Three Italians employed on the section were arrested near the section house by City Marshal Jock Gverdort at the request of Agent Piper. They allegedly refused lawful orders from Saction Foreman Mike Sullivan to work and demanded double pay for overtime during the recent road blockade. They reportedly escalated with dangerous actions and refused to shovel coal in the yards.

Mrs Brown Injured in Cow Incident Near Town
Mrs Reuben Brown suffered serious injuries when knocked down and trampled by a cow at her home one mile south of town. She sustained a fractured left leg below the knee and back injuries and lay in the cold for about an hour before receiving medical care. Her sons Noah and George Brown previously ran the Elberta hotel.
