He criticized overplanting and deep root trimming, advised six to eight inch shallow plowing, and endorsed cover crops or allowing weeds before plowing.

Great Northern Plans Electrification Across Cascade Division
Everett November 12 reports that the Great Northern Railway will extend electric motive power from Wenatchee to Everett and replace coal locomotives between those cities. A 8000 horsepowerChelan Falls power source will fund the project at about 2 million dollars with engineering underway. Leavenworth station already operates 12000 horsepower, to be boosted by 4000 horsepower early next year.

The residential minimum drops to $1 with a 15 percent reduction, renewals receive free globes, and commercial and power rates are readjusted. The opening sale of the Reed orchard tract at Malaga drew three city trips by autos with buyers from Seattle. D M Simson purchased 24 acres of bearing orchard for 28000 and seven acres of raw land. One Man's Crop Makes $18 000 Profit for Carl Smith
Carl Smith of Waterville County, once poor, will receive about $18,000 this year for his crop. His nine quarters yielded 9000 sacks of wheat or 20 000 bushels. He bought two quarters last spring for 14 000 and may buy two more next spring. Three teams haul grain to Withrow. Years ago he hauled to Coulee City for seventeen cents a bushel.
