A meeting at Lawyer Johnson's office marked the incorporation of Quincy Farmers' Elevator Co. Officers chosen were E I Huffman president Adam Weber vice president L Delivak secretary and treasurer. A general discussion on building plans and stockholder additions followed with directors to meet Saturday May 9.
The Douglas county Democratic convention met in Wilson Creek on May 2 with about 65 delegates. Remote precincts Bridgeport and Petersburg sent at least one representative. full attendance could reach 141. Waterville delegates arrived Friday and caucused. the morning session set the work plan.
The Douglas county Democratic meeting endorsed William Jennings Bryan for president and selected 21 delegates to the state convention without opposition. Speakers urged party unity, with Ben Spear and G. G. Hanna among the notable addresses. Local plans included appointing a state central committeeman and discussing campaign strategy after adjournment.
A small crowd attended the Saturday caucus in the council chamber. Eight men were elected to represent Quincy at Coulee City tomorrow: F. T. Campbell, E. H. Pfaffy, S. G. Cehenerle, G. E. Sanderson, J. B. Morrison, J. Miller, H. C. Shocky, C. C. Ledbetter. Wesley Jones was the popular county senator choice. C. C. Ledbetter chaired the meeting. H. F. Hunter, T. P. A. of the C. M. & St. P. Ry and president of Oriental Land Co. of Seattle was mentioned.
