Farmers Telephone Company Holds Annual Stockholders Meeting
The Farmers Telephone company held its annual stockholders meeting in the courthouse. 300 of 412 shares were represented. Officers were re elected: Z A Lanham president S W Phillips vice president H C Littlefield secretary and Guy C Brown treasurer. The secretary’s report showed healthy finances with a 33 1 3 percent gain in phones to 603 instruments. The board seeks to refinance short term notes into long term bonds and may approve a Pacific States offer to transfer local business within Kititas county to Farmers in return for long distance connections on commission. An independent offer may also be considered. The Pacific proposal covers 10 years and a 15 mile radius boundary.

Heroic act saves a rider as bystander breaks leg
G W Lang a book-keeper at Columbia River Lumber Skyline saved Miss Sterns from a horse fall but suffered a broken leg in the effort. Miss Sterns, daughter of Skyline mill engineer, was returning to the mailbox when a sudden horse movement threw her behind the saddle. Lang restrained the animal and protected the rider, but the horse struck him, breaking both leg bones. Lang is recovering at home after hospital transfer. Also noted: four ten acre tracts of east Wenatchee land sold for 250 dollars per acre to eastern buyers amid rising land activity.

Red Apple Real Estate Sells Six Tracts Totaling 18000
The Red Apple Real Estate company reported four sales totaling 18000. Transactions included Dan Coffin ranch on Sunnyslope sold to Jos Miller of Virginia for 6000, Monitor area land to BE Wyman for 3500, five acres near Cashmere to Richard Harrison for 3500, and five acres of the A J Linville tract near Wenatchee sold to Jas Kinney of Squilchuk for 5000. Big Strike Threatened by Western Rail Workers
In Chicago on March 25 a plan to strike in April was unveiled by 100 local trainmen and conductor committee members led by Grand Chiefs Morissey and Geretson. A. F. Whitner signaled support for the strike, with anticipated cross border and international cooperation. Fire damages Bayside Iron Works in Everett
Fire at Bayside Iron Works at Hewitt street yesterday afternoon caused $20 000 in damage and $10 000 in patterns. The plant was only partially insured. Proprietor C J Witney said he would rebuild after insurance adjustment. About thirty workers were left temporarily unemployed.
