Notice of an 8 o'clock meeting at the Commercial Club rooms to discuss fruit conditions. Otis Orchards Spokane orchardists are in town studying valley fruit status, with P. P. Holcomb presiding as Wenatchee Valley Fruit Growers' Association president.
Local notices and ads for Fourth of July preparations include Russell-Johnson Co. sign work, Red Cross Ambulance, and up to date swinging cot. Events feature Ladies' Aid at M. E. church, irrigation talks with A. A. Hammer, and Overland Taxicab service. Also promotions for fireworks, signs, postcards, and recent arrivals like Stevens-Duryea auto.
The WCTU contemplates setting a Fourth of July booth in a large hole dug on their building site. The hole is intended as the future basement of the WCTU building, but funds to continue construction are currently lacking.
Wenatchee residentsAlert: a man named R A Abbot advertised 100 tons of hay and oats and posed as a real estate broker to lure bids. Guy H Whitson of Wenatchee and a Spokane dealer won bids but the Portland draft was forgeries. No hay or oats arrived and Abbot remains at large amid local notoriety.
Chelan Grant and Douglas counties doctors gather tonight at Dr. Kaupp’s office for their annual meeting. They plan to elect officers handle routine matters and consider broader expansion of the group along with several special agenda items.
Dr W A Stevenson of the Presbyterian church denounced prize fight films during last night’s evening sermon. He urged Wenatchee city officials to censor and ban fight pictures to spare the youth from perceived prostitution drunkenness and obscenity associated with such events in Reno Nevada and elsewhere.
