Prizes totaling about 2000 dollars are offered for Wenatchee’s Fourth of July events. Events include foot races, animal contests, pulling matches, tug of war, horse and pony races, and parade highlights with prize increases planned as funds come in. The wheat crop outlook cites a record 1907 harvest potential in eastern Washington.
Gordon Wilson of Wenatchee, who travels through the Big Bend along the Great Northern line, is in the city visiting friends. He has been studying crop prospects and notes moisture has saturated the ground.
Blue coated veterans march through Ballard as the State Encampment of the Grand Army of the Republic opens in Shingle City. A Spokane G A R special train carried members with a painted pennant while Wenatchee delegates joined late. Chelan and Wenatchee figures travel to reunions and socials through the week.
Wenatchee reports a Great Northern wreck near Leavenworth as passenger train No 1 derailed the second engine and mail car into the river. The fireman survived a near drowning after escaping the submerged cab with passengers aid. The first engine toppled onto its side causing no injuries. Wrecking crews moved in from Everett to clear the line.

Temporary tracks allow trains to pass while recovery and cleanup proceed. A Westbound passenger arrives late. Knights of Pythias plan a third degree meeting at Bower Hall with refreshments to follow.
D E Loving reports Siloam Lake Sanitarium known as Soap Lake Hospital expanding to meet rising patronage from coast cities and beyond. Visitors travel by train to Ephrata then bus in. G N railway may add a siding to shorten trips. The lake has high mineral content and no life. townsite platted with 50 guest capacity and plans for a dining room and amusements.

The Monitor gathering drew over 400 attendees for speeches and music led by Frank Reeves and Alex Brender. Trustees were elected to buy a permanent site, draft by laws, and consider incorporation to raise funds for grounds, near the river and ditch water potential.
A running event planned by the High School Track Team for a prize offered by the Fourth of July committee. Distances and entry details will be announced after discussions between the boys and organizers. The winner receives a sweater embroidered with W H S.
