John Olson and Harry Ellerker died in a four o'clock Cascade snow slide between Leavenworth and the Cascade tunnel. The men, longtime Great Northern track walkers, were entombed as tons of snow buried their shack. Recovery may take days due to melting snow and train service disruption.

New Bison Range A Success At Montana Reserve
K Merriam head of the biological survey testified before the House agricultural committee on the national bison range in Montana. He reported 37 American buffalo stocked so far with plans to reach 50 soon and praised the range for feed ample enough to support 1000 buffalo and future elk and deer introductions. He described the rugged fence, blasted rock post holes with local labor, and noted plan to add more barb wire to contain wildlife.
