Supreme court affirms Praul verdict in mining trespass case

Prosecuting Attorney Fred Kemp reports the Washington Supreme Court affirmed the conviction of Praul for criminal trespass on the Pride of the West mining claim in Chelan county. Davis and Dr. Shore held possessory rights. Praul’s appeal challenged claim validity but the Court upheld the ruling. The original $50 fine plus costs will total at least $300.

New York Feb 3 Justice Brewer of the U S supreme court urged states to limit appeals arguing that excessive appeals delay justice. He called for public ownership of partly public enterprises and urged removing politics from courts while reserving an exception for constitutional questions.

Hubbard Place Sold at Entiat for 14000 Dollars

The H F Hubbard place three miles below Entiat sold yesterday to E G Spencer for 14000. Spencer, connected with Barron Spencer Lumber at Chelan, plans to raise fruit. Hubbard spent years improving the property with water piping and orchard hydrants. The five acre bearing orchard yielded 1500 last year. acreage includes ten acres of young trees one acre of grapes four acres alfalfa and 40 waterable acres plus 200 acres of hill land for pasture. Hubbard now resides in the city practicing law with Parr Hubbard.

Start Work on New Wenatchee Laundry Building

The Wenatchee steam laundry will begin reconstruction early next week. The old building will be pulled back two feet on Columbia and Palouse street sides. A new well is being dug to ensure clean water, and the 50 by 120 foot facility will house modern laundry machinery and a clothes pressing club. Manager Tubbs says operations will continue and standards will remain high during the project.

County Attorney Fred Kemp in Leavenworth for assault case

In Leavenworth on Wednesday County Attorney Fred Kemp represented the state in an assault and battery case. Loren Richards of Tumwater Light and Power faced charges for kicking seven year old Sern Jesen and was fined ten dollars plus costs.
