Roosevelt commission eyed as key farm reform effort
Washington Aug 25 The Roosevelt social and economic farm inquiry is praised as potentially the most far reaching reform of the Roosevelt era. Pinchot says the president aims to attract farmers back to rural life beyond money gains, stressing national well being through improved farm conditions and social life rather than urban migration. He notes no single region is targeted and cites interest in nationwide farmer prosperity. The piece references Dr Harvey Wiley’s earlier village plan as a contrasting idea, outlining four houses per quarter section to keep farmers nearby.
