Fruit demand remains strong in Spokane market
In Spokane on August 2 the fruit market showed high demand for peaches plums and apricots with supply tight. Red raspberries and blackberries were fair. watermelons were abundant. Local cherry quality was poor causing a brief drop in pace, but overall supply remains limited. Milton Oregon blackberries were soft and sold at a reduction though some stock was excellent. Yesterday was one of the quietest days of the season.

New Wheat Hauled to Wilson Creek
Wilson Creek August 3 The first new wheat was hauled to the warehouses here. It graded 61 pounds to the bushel from poorer parts of the field. Indications point to about 25 bushels average yield in this section and Krupp vicinity. Many combines work now and by mid next week threshing will be general. Haying on the big meadows is in full swing with some smaller ranchers finished.

Imports Horses From Old England in Northwest Promise
M C Gray mayor of Pullman returned from the Atlantic coast with a shipment of horses bound for England. The voyage faced fog delays but the horses arrived in fine condition after fifteen days in an express car. Gray called it the longest continuous shipment of horses in America and urged farmers to breed better stock to boost the local horse industry.
