Chelan Apples Fetch High Prices in Minneapolis
R. P. Wright of Chelan shipped three carloads of Wenatchee Valley apples to Minneapolis after failing to sell locally. Dealers paid $2.50 per box for Black Ben Davis and $3 for Jonathan and Spitz, with better grades at $3 to $3.75. Wright notes shipping costs $0.50 per box, leaving a healthy margin, and plans to ship next year’s crop to Minneapolis using barrels. He says no local dealer had previously received Wenatchee apples.
