A long fragment resumes 19th century fashion notes from Sydney. Red hair fashion, political passion over liquor referendums, and spring goods emerge amid levied quotes and social mood. The piece describes dresses, skirts, boots, shoes, stockings, embroidery, and home craft details with references to ornaments, lace, and new fabrics.
Wirth Bros circus comes to town on June 9 for a single evening show in Wellington. Promotional boards tout riding and juggling feats, horses and bulls, with a claim of extraordinary intelligence and dexterity by the animal acts.
An enthusiastic circus crowd applauds as Loretta and Fen Tuniin Novikoll perform daring horizontal tar work. The Giogoku Family of Jajoruone acrobats and the twenty one month old animals thrill with Risley and aerial acts. Miss May Martin Worth shines in equestrian feats while a varied clown act entertains. The elephants stand out as a top feature in a well stocked menagerie. The large 200 will be open from 4 to 5 pm.
The document outlines rules for a liquor referendum voting process including invalidation for improper marks and the method of counting first and subsequent preferences. It specifies how hours are chosen, how majorities are determined, and the handling of exhausted ballots and informal votes during the preferential count.
The excerpt explains that an hour or candidate with fewer than half the votes is excluded and then second preferences are allocated to remaining hours in order. It notes that only second preferences are used once the lowest candidate is dropped, and final counting rests with returning officers and the Chief Electoral Officer.
Translation of a Lelogenm address by the Intoerman Governor of the Cameroons to Protectorate authorities after Dugla’s fall to Allied forces on September 27. It claims British and French forces terrorized natives, describes mass refugee movement, French bombardment of a major city, and asserts German forces pushed the Allies back, with claimed captures and desertions.
Readable notices list Church of England services for Whitsunday and Trinity Sunday in Wellington and nearby towns. Includes locations Bodangora Womboolgun, Carree Creek and Walington with times in morning and evening services and midweek intercession and confirmation classes. Baptist and other church listings with pastors and service times follow, though several scribal errors obscure exact spellings and towns.
