Arthur Hawes of Orange suffered head injuries and theft after a motor car overturned on the Orange Bathurst Road near Bathurst on Wednesday morning. Hawes, 2, was admitted to Bathurst Dix Brit Hospital, remaining serious but improving. Ron Langdon, 25, of Orange, sustained general abrasions and also admitted, Hawes was discharged later. The pair were travelling to attend a funeral when the accident occurred.
The Minister for Works Mr E S Spooner will be relieved of his ministerial duties while the Royal Commission investigates the disposal of State undertakings. Acting Chief Secretary Mr Gollan will administer Spooner’s Office from next Wednesday when the Commission resumes. The Department’s major work will continue under Spooner. A Wellington Times note also mentions Rev G Wood hosting O K boys at the Caves test, with eight boys in the Austin ten and other activities, plus Xmas greetings.
Miss Jes sie McIntyre, 15, of Neuchatel Grammar School Habeffeld, has not missed a day at school for six years until two days after the Christmas break when she was hospitalized with acute appendicitis. She recovers quickly and laments the break in her attendance record. McIntyre is one of three entrants in the Ashfield Queen Competition. winner goes on to represent the district in the 1938 Ashfield celebrations.
