Germans Taken by British Vessels Amid Ocean Losses

Numerous ships were mined or torpedoed with heavy loss of life this week. British forces captured the German steamer Henning Oldendorf with about 300 Germans aboard. Bowran was torpedoed off England’s west coast, killing nine and injuring others. Scotia was sunk in the North Sea, Corea went down off England’s east coast, and Rudolph saved crew from Gimble after it near Britain. Tarvelho, Aranjo and other Germans were intercepted near the Iberian coast. Finnish torpedo boat damage affected Britain as the conflict intensified.
