Australia’s Debt And Pension Costs Rise In Audit Report

The Commonwealth Audit General released an annual report showing a total public debt of £1,298,023,972 at item basis. Of this, £265,988,270 is outstanding from the last year. The total debt for Commonwealth and States rose by about £20,000,000 in the year to June. Expenditure on Old Age and Invalid pensions reached £15,091,000, up almost 60 percent from 1084, with New South Wales having more invalid pensioners per capita than other states.

Methodist Church Anniversary and Holiday Services Summary

Melbourne bill aims to curb slaughter of horses

A bill was introduced in the Legislative Assembly to ban the slaughter of horses and sale of horse flesh for human consumption in Victoria. A recent inspection found a large group of horses in a abattoir and six more awaiting processing. In another premises, 25,010 pounds of horse flesh were found hanging in the aging manufacture area.

Wardrobe Tragedy: Man Found Dead from Gas Tubing

George H. Glasson, aged 52, was found dead in a wardrobe at his Katoomba home. A length of gas tubing connected through a hole in the wardrobe appears to have caused his death. Glasson recently purchased tubing over the previous days. The scene was sealed and police examined the facts.
