Wellington Shire Council Election Shocker in Local polls

The Wellington Shire Council race produced a surprising defeat for President Dr. Marshman and Council veteran Dr. Solomon as Mr. W Cole led a ticket backed by Montefiore Progress Association. The 168 informal votes, including many marked with crosses, sparked a check in Riding B though unlikely to change the result. New council will be sworn after a final declaration within days with six incumbents and four new members marching in, only one of the newcomers, Mr. A Knowles, having prior Local Government experience in the area.
