Children’s Night at the Convent Ball a Grand Family Pageant

A rainy Friday at Boies Hall hosted the Convent School Children’s Night with about 120 boys and girls in elaborate costumes. Despite downpour, the event drew a large audience and raised funds, featuring Taney solos, original sets, and prizes for best and most original costumes. Judges Culkin, Veeck, and Kennedy awarded the top prize to the Fans, with Australian cricketers honored as most original. many individual costumes received recognition as the night closed after midnight.

Chamber of Commerce advises 3 percent price rise

Following the Prime Minister's refusal to approve a tax measure, a special Chamber meeting recommended manufacturers raise prices by about three percent. New price lists will be prepared soon. The council says the only way to recoup tax burden is to increase prices accordingly with a compensating reduction for buyers paying the tax.

A large crowd filled Gulgong Salvation Hall on August eve to watch 20 Wellington Salvation Army and Balvdin Army Boy Scouts in a cancer party style program. Captain Binclair welcomed attendees while Adj Knighty led as Scout instructor. The varied program included songs, elocution, and band pieces by Master Wilfred Knight and the Scouts.
