Fleeting Moments From Wellington Leader Files
The Wellington Leader page notes a large draft group reporting for examinations in Lubbock on September 20 with one Coast Guard acceptance, several Navy and Army enlistments, transfers, and a later 1953 entry on 4-H honors. It also previews a Phillips versus Wellington Skyrockets football clash, wartime restrictions on attendance, and county farm mobility efforts. A separate 1963 item covers Lanny Lewis, a Southwestern State College student, receiving a City State Bank student loan through the United Student Loan plan.
