A G Tyler, 89, a farmer in the county for 69 years, died at Collingsworth General Hospital at 5 30 am Thursday Sept 15 after a short illness. He lived alone at the family home east of Wellington when he was stricken and remained active despite his age.

Twenty-first Annual Soil Tour Scheduled for Sept. 29
The Northwest Texas Research Demonstration Program hosts the twenty first soil and crops tour in Collingsworth County on Thursday September 29 starting at 9:00 a.m. Six stops include cotton and grain sorghum variety tests erosion control and a forage grazing program with tours at Nix Thomason Souder Wade Cox and Bartlett farms. Severe hail storm damages crops across northern county
Heavy hail and rain struck the north part of the county Tuesday night with 1.5 to 3 inches of rain measured in places. Sheriff John Rainey and deputies reported extensive crop damage to cotton and grain sorghum especially near Dozier and north toward Sumnerwood. Damage extent uncertain at press time, but areas within about 10 miles by up to 75 percent crop loss were feared. Weather intensified flood and road washout conditions with debris removal ongoing.

Clean-up Drive Begins At Dodson Saturday
