VA extends two years free medical care to recent combat vets
In light of recent combat, veterans who served in a combat zone are eligible for two years of free VA medical care for most conditions. The benefit applies to VA hospital, outpatient, and nursing home care for those discharged within the period after November 11, 1998. National Guard and reserve personnel serving with active duty in combat are typically covered.

School Board Notes Highlight Grants And Student Programs
The school board approved budgets and noted $93,000 from the Ninth Grade Initiative Grant will fund a summer program, after school activities for incoming and struggling ninth graders, plus computers and projection units. PAALM pilot for grades 3-5 funded by TARGET Grant. Budget amendments presented by the business manager. Administrators attended the TASA Technology Conference in Lubbock and will continue training in March.
