Services Held Thursday for Ben H Brewer
Funeral services for Ben Brewer were held at 2 pm Thursday August 28 at First Baptist Church led by Rev Leroy Gaston. He died in St Joseph's Hospital early Wednesday August 27. burial followed at Memorial Gardens with Kelso Funeral Home directing. Brewer, born January 24 1889 in Cave City Arkansas, lived in Col linga worth County since 1902 and spent most of his life farming. He married Mittie L Ingram on December 24 1913. she preceded him in death January 20 1969. Survivors include two daughters Mrs Robert Strong of Amarillo and Mrs Ray King of Guymon plus three sisters and a brother, nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Comanche Leaders Map Scout Member Drive
Comanche District leaders met at Lammorwood Community Park for this year’s membership round up. Vicki Saunders Receives Degree at Summer Convocation
Vicki Killian Saunders earned a bachelor of science in education at the recent summer convocation ending the session. She teaches sixth grade mathematics in the Wolforth Schools near Lubbock and did practice teaching in Claude. She is daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Killian and graduated Wellington High in 1964. The couple, married to J. C. Saunders, has a 22 month old daughter Stacy. Attendees included Mr. and Mrs. Killian and several local families. Galileo's first telescope magnified only three times.

Amarillo College School of Vocational Arts marks its third year starting September 2 1969 with 7 30 am full time day classes and 6 pm night classes enrollment. The program began 1967 with 73 full time and 75 part time students and 1968 expansion boosted enrollments. 1968 69 headcount around 2000.
