Collingsworth Demos Urge Belt Law Repeal Convention

Collingsworth County Democrats gathered at the courthouse on May 17 to push repeal of the mandatory seat belt law. Lennie Sims elected permanent chairperson and Lorene Jenkins named permanent secretary. Delegates and alternates from Precincts 1 through 9 listed, plus statewide delegates to the Texas Democratic Party State Convention set for June 27 28. Resolutions chair Kenneth Martindale and Dan Howard Jr accepted three measures to update poll lists verify voter registration certificates and secure better maintenance of polling infrastructure.

Wellington to host five state peace officers meeting

Collingsworth County Sheriff John Rainey will host the Five-state Peace Officers Association quarterly meeting at Burn Handley Community Center in Wellington on Tuesday June 3 starting at 7 p.m. Representatives from about 15 agencies are invited with attendance potentially reaching 150.

One Republican Polling Place June 7 for County

The Republican party will operate a single polling place in the county for the second primary on Saturday June 7 located in the county roads. Wayne Cudd, county chairman, explains voters who did not vote in the first primary May 5 may choose a party at the second primary and will have their registration stamped at the second primary.
