Last call issued for Wellington women to compete for Mrs. Texas America 2001 with the state contest set July 6 8 in Houston. Director Tana Herrington says applications must be in by May 15 2001 and Hawaii will host the national pageant.
Childress Regional Medical Center School of Vocational Nursing invites applicants for the class of 2001-2002. Applicants must be 18 or older, HS graduate or GED, no college hours required, and pass a pre admission exam and interview. Contact Kathy Lindley or Gayla Buckner to schedule. Abernathy 5 8 junior Jennifer Brock earns all South Plains honors after a standout season. She averaged 17.5 points, 6.7 rebounds and 4.7 assists per game on 44 percent shooting, guiding Abernathy High School as a top returner after a near playoff run. Brock is an honor student, daughter of Joe Brock, the late Judy Baird Brock and Kim Brock, with notable Woodward, Oklahoma lineage.
Panhandle Community Services and Collingsworth Home Delivered Meals held a dinner Tuesday April 24 at 6:00 p.m. Ben Kames provided music. Center coordinator Tessie Burba awarded certificates, noting years of service for Pauline Masten and Mary Ruth Jones who began volunteering April 1, 1983. Special certificates went to Ralph Owens Fuehs Greenbelt Electric and the City of Wellington for regular driver support.
