Collingsworth County remains under a burn ban issued December 12 2005 by the Commissioners Court. The ban continues until further order, with authorities stating residents should avoid outdoor fires and follow any updates from local government.
The Wellington Senior Class of 2006 will present Miss Wellington and Miss Teen on Saturday April 1 at 7 PM in the high school auditorium.

Bill Moore travels 900 miles toward May 23 riding a 150 year old Confederate saddle with horse Newt and a Ruger. He stopped in Collingsworth County due to Panhandle wildfires and reflects on a life of travel and guiding. Moore, now vacationing between ranges, has ridden across many states, built a guest ranch near the Ozark National Forest, and works with PFI Western Wear for gear.
Ranchers affected by recent fires can attend education sessions titled After the Wildfires Livestock and Range Recovery. The events run across the Panhandle in partnership with USDA NRCS and Farm Service Agency, with dates from March 22 to March 29 at multiple communities including Borger Pampa Clarendon Miami Childress Wellington and Amarillo.
The Annual Quail School Ex- Student Reunion is set for Saturday April 15 2006 at the Quail Community Building with 5:00 p.m. registration. Donations for a grant to upgrade the building are being accepted via Quail Booster Club PO Box 98 Quail TX 79251. Class meetings list 1954 1957 at Cherokee Inn, 1961 at Wellington Burn Handley, 1966 at Ward Cabin and a 1961 Quail High School reunion at 11:00 a.m. in the council room.
