Carpenter ants and termites warn Texas homes this spring
County Agent Bab Dunlap notes two major pests will appear in Texas homes, carpenter ants and termites. Carpenter ants have pinched waists and uneven wings, while termites have straight beadlike antennae and uniform wings. Termites cause extensive damage, while carpenter ants do not eat wood. Call a pest control company, preferably one that is a member of the Texas Pest Control Association, or contact the County Extension agent at 806-447-2313 for more information. Educational programs are open to all citizens.
