Texas Leads in Beef Cattle Production and Prizes

Texas has led the nation in beef cattle since earlier generations with over five million head at the start of 1913, far surpassing Iowa’s two point six million. The state’s cattle improve in quality due to widespread use of pure bred bulls. The St Louis Live Stock Exchange offers up to two hundred dollars in prizes at the Feeder Cattle Contest in September to encourage Texas ranchmen to keep improving cattle. Secretary H F Parry anticipates a strong Texas exhibit at the event.
