Ritz Theater Revival Could Kick Off Historic Wellington Effort

Local residents form Historic Wellington Inc to seek IRS nonprofit status and fundraise for Ritz Theater restoration in downtown Wellington. Gay McAlister, president, plans roof replacement and structural shoring after decades of water damage. The 1928 29 era theater, one of West Texas’ most ornate venues, once housed Vitaphone and Movietone Tech. Grants via THC may aid study and costs, with interior gutting likely.

Cowboy Barbecue to Benefit Collingsworth Museum

Collingsworth County Museum Board sponsors a Cowboy Barbecue with Charlie Oren cooking on Saturday June 30 at 6 p.m. in Ellison Park. Tickets cost 6.50 for adults and 3.25 for children, available from board members or at the park. Proceeds aid preservation of county history.
