Wellington Skyrockets sweep Shamrock in doubleheader routs
In the Rolling Plains League Wellington won 10-1 as Shamrock struggled early and fell behind. Perry Torrez brothers and Jonathan Killian produced key hits while Gene Pena held Shamrock to one run. The second game saw Shamrock capture a 3-0 win before Wellington prevailed 12-1 in a later matchup. Then Wellington edged Memphis 10-9 in a high scoring tilt. The Hedley CISD board convened June 15, 1998, approving football program continuation, contracts, summer maintenance, a teacher aide, insurer bid, and multiple resolutions with unanimous votes.
