State Comptroller John Sharp reported $185.5 million in monthly sales tax payments to 1,093 cities and 118 counties, a 14.7 percent rise from June 1997. U S Senator Phil Gramm announced nearly 100 Texas cities and counties will share 26.9 million in Community Development block grants for water sewer and street improvements. Texas Guardsmen Move On Roadways For Summer Camp
Thousands of military vehicles will share Texas highways during annual training at Fort Hood. Key corridors include Interstate 35 from Dallas to Austin, and highways 36 84 190 and 281 with critical points at Waco Temple and north of Austin. About 7 000 personnel from the 49th Armored Division plus 2 000 supporting Guardsmen and Reservists from other states will participate over the next 15 days.
