Texas entomologist promotes pest management future
Jobin G. Thomas of the Texas Agricultural Extension Service argues pest management will shape Texas farming. He notes cotton programs inform peanut and sorghum plans using biological, cultural controls and careful pesticide use. Federal funds support ongoing and pilot programs, with field scouts monitoring insect levels and crop development. Thomas aims to maximize grower returns while protecting the environment.
