Potential for Pheasants in Panhandle Area
Texas Parks and Wildlife biologists see potential to boost ringneck pheasant habitat in the Panhandle. Apathy stems from leases not yielding much money, but more landowners could profit by providing food and cover. Pheasants appeared 20 years ago with irrigation growth, drawing birds from nearby states and spurring a limited 1958 season. by 1971 an open cock season existed, though numbers remain moderate to light.

Nebraska trials across 30 ranches with 13 000 calves showed oral vaccines given to pregnant cows 60 to 90 days before calving, with later work indicating a single vaccination suffices.
