Wellington WHS graduates win numerous scholarships
Wellington High School class of 2002 graduates earned scholarships totaling dozens of awards from local and state sponsors. Jermaine Cantu led with automatic college admission under top ten percent rules, plus multiple named awards from community groups, with Mikki Sain, Devin White, Noe Trejo and others receiving scholarships ranging from 50 to 1,500 dollars as part of a broad funding effort.

G and G Designs on the south side of the square announces new ownership by Micheal Garza who bought Pair A Dice Graphix and adds embroidering to screenprinting. Elaine Garza, his mother, shifts from cake making since 26 years and mums since 1984 to join in gifts, flowers, wedding items, balloons and delivery services, praising the customers and God.

Wellington Summer Youth Program Opens Registration
Wellington Opportunity Center invites area youth to eight weeks of fun and recreation. The program runs Monday through Friday at 809 West Avenue with hours for K-4 from 10 am to 3 pm and 5-8 from noon to closing. Color landscape exhibit at Art Center features Jim Jordan and Louise Daniel
The Art Center near the Collingsworth County Museum on the Square hosts a color landscape photography show by Amarillo artists Jim Jordan and Louise Daniel. The Southwestern Suite on the south wall displays 18 Jordan photographs. Jordan, who grew up in the Texas Panhandle, began as a musician before switching to photography and has studied with notable photographers including Robert Ketchum, Ray McSavenny, Meridel Rubenstein, John Shaw, Frank Gohlke, and Keith Carter.
