Roses in Texas Face Blackspot and Powdery Mildew
County Extension Agent Dr. Janell Stevens Johnk notes blackspot as the most serious rose disease in Texas with signs of fringe black spots and yellow halos. She advises dry leaves, drip irrigation, leaf cleanup, pruning infected canes, weekly fungicide treatments, and fungicides like Funginex and Daconil 2787. Powdery mildew appears as a white powder on leaves and the same fungicides help control it.

Dodson Nazarene Youth Crusade Kicks Off June 3
Dodson Church of the Nazarene starts a Youth Crusade from Monday, June 3 to Friday, June 7, 9 to 11 30 a.m. A Friday 11 a.m. picnic follows. On Sunday June 9 at 10 40 a m the youth present a program with a hamburger cookout. Chief chefs are Dalton Royer and Garland Hightower. Special singing at 1 45 p m. Rev Dale Peirce leads for nursery through 14 years or grade 8. Opal Camp directs with Leslie Ewing as assistant and secretary. Mildred Cummins is pianist. Craft, recreation and Bible workers assist. All invited.
