Hospital board meeting draws twenty six attendees
A Collingsworth Hospital Board meeting on Monday June 2 drew 26 participants including board members staff and concerned residents. Dr Don Klinger presented a 34 page petition with around 580 signatures seeking reinstatement at the Collingsworth Family Clinic and asked to begin contract talks soon. He said he worked five months under a prior contract which he reviewed but believed the contract was illegal and could be a class B misdemeanor to sign. The board noted they cannot fire or hire a doctor under current law. The Collingsworth County Health Organization contracts with the hospital to hire physicians, with several doctors visiting periodically. Klinger remains welcome to operate his own clinic and retains hospital privileges, though the reasons for his firing were not clarified.
