OPD rules for older propane cylinders in Texas homes
Texas propane users with cylinders at least 12 years old must have an OPD safety device installed and be requalified. The rule, effective April 1 2002, aims to prevent overfilling by limiting liquid to about 80 percent of cylinder capacity.

Representative Mac Thornberry praised House passage of a funding bill that allocates 2.1 million dollars for the Red River Chloride Control Project for 2002. The money funds reevaluation studies and construction in the Wichita River Basin while adding 500 thousand for environmental monitoring. The project in Knox County uses dams pipelines and pump stations to curb saltwater intrusion and improve water quality for human use. The measure passed 405 to 15 and heads to the Senate.
