Charles Goodnight guides Frontier Battalion at Belknap
In March 1862 Charles Goodnight aided a detachment of Company B of the Frontier Battalion at Fort Belknap Texas. Lt. Colonel Obenchain misjudged terrain and led a fruitless desert chase, nearly starving the troops before Goodnight found water. He later located the Colonel's body after search failed for two missing recruits.
