WHS senior Jermaine Cantu has been chosen from more than 91,000 applicants as a Coca-Cola Scholars semifinalist. He competes for 1.8 million in college scholarships. 251 finalists will travel to Atlanta for Coca-Cola Scholars Weekend with final selections granting 20,000 rewards to national scholars and 4,000 to regional scholars.

Hedley Owls win at Clarendon tournament. strong Lady Owls run
Hedley Owls and Lady Owls competed in the Greenbelt Classic in Clarendon December 27 to 29. Lady Owls beat Shamrock 75-61 then Groom 55-45 before topping the Lady Broncos 60-47 in the final. Owls lost to Claude 60-35, then beat Shamrock 80-61 and River Road 75-72 in consolation and finished 11-6. The teams will host Lefors Pirates on January 4 for two district games.
