Local water district sets new waste policy
The Collingsworth County Underground Water Conservation District board, at its December 9, 2003 meeting, designated two irrigation practices as groundwater wasteful and rule violations. Tailwater runoff onto roads or property and overspray from high-volume end guns were cited. General Manager Tommy Powell urged farmers to remove end guns or adjust settings to stop spraying near roads, citing safety, liability, and maintenance concerns and noting winter is a good time for system changes.
