Hospital board adopts policies for admitting and billing

Cox named Conservation Farmer for Hall Childress SWCD

Tony Cox of Wellington and Childress County was chosen by Hall-Childress SWCD directors as the Conservation Farmer of the year, honored by 100th District Judge John T. Forbis at the Childress Chamber banquet. He and his mother Louise Cox operate about 2,000 acres across Childress and Collingsworth Counties, using ridge tilage on cotton with winter wheat in furrows to protect young crops and reduce replanting costs.

Filing Open for Hospital and School Board Seats in Collingsworth and Wellington

Contenders may file for four Collingsworth General Hospital District seats and two Wellington Independent School District terms. Deadlines are April 7 for hospital candidates and March 18 for school districts. Locations include county offices. voting and ballot drawings set in April and March respectively.

4-H and FFA exhibitors at Houston Junior Livestock Show

Collingsworth County 4-H members join peers from Texas at the Houston Junior Show in Astrohall from Feb 15 to Mar 1. The junior show features market steers swine sheep poultry beef and dairy animals with top producers eligible for auctions. Net proceeds fund scholarships and research with over 1000 students aided.

Salt Fork SWCD gets grant for irrigation meters

The Texas Water Development Board awarded Salt Fork Soil and Water Conservation District a 75 percent matching grant of 5925 dollars to buy an electronic flow meter and a moisture meter. They will measure irrigation well output and judge system efficiency, enabling adjustments to save water and money for farmers with help from USDA technicians.
