Wellington Group Attends Borger Funeral for Johnny Tooms
A Wellington group traveled to Borger on Monday February 24 to attend the funeral of Johnny Tooms 60 who died February 20. He was married to Minnie Rousey and was brother to Mrs. C R Childress and Mrs. John Atkinson with Mrs. Tooms a cousin of Herman Childress Mrs. Jess Wilson and Mrs. Emil Kersten. Attendees included Mrs. Atkinson Claude Childress Jimmy Childress and Herman Childress along with Mrs. Wilson and Mrs. Delma Childress.

Vandals Damage Office Door At James Doneghy’s Office
A pipe was thrown through the door at the southwest corner office of James Doneghy in the early hours of Tuesday February 18. Sheriff John Rainey said two tires on Doneghy’s Volkswagen were slashed. The damage was found Tuesday morning.

Two youths injured in one car rollover near Shamrock
Jan et Holcomb twenty in serious condition at Northwest Texas Hospital Amarillo after a Sunday night rollover on Interstate 40 about 14 miles west of Shamrock. Passenger Pam Shumate seventeen with head lacerations in fair condition at Shamrock General Hospital. Other occupants David Vineyard twenty four and Barney Sherman twenty two suffered minor injuries. The car struck a concrete overpass column and overturned.

The Red River Regional Blood Center serves a 26 county area including Collingsworth General with a blood quota of 118 units for the drive. Severe snow drifts closed roads across Wellington area, hindering maintenance work but no cattle losses reported. crews cleared key routes through Quail and Sumnerwood as power outages affected fences and livestock.
